Board construction

Board built for the job.

Corrugated board is built by combining flat liner papers with fluted medium. The number of layers and the flute profile can be selected according to the strength, protection and handling requirements of the finished carton.

01 / Single wall

3-ply board

One fluting layer between two liners. A versatile construction for a wide range of everyday corrugated packaging.

2 liners + 1 fluting medium
02 / Double wall

5-ply board

Two fluting layers separated by an intermediate liner, providing a heavier and more rigid construction for demanding packaging applications.

3 liners + 2 fluting mediums
03 / Triple wall

7-ply board

Three fluting layers and four liners form a heavy-duty construction used where exceptional structural strength and protection are required.

4 liners + 3 fluting mediums
Board construction is application-driven. Final board selection depends on carton dimensions, product weight, stacking requirements, handling conditions and customer specification.

Paper & materials

Paper is where performance begins.

The right carton starts with the right paper. Liner and fluting grades are selected according to the required board construction, strength, appearance and end-use application.

Linerboard

Kraftliner

A strong liner grade used as a facing layer of corrugated board where structural performance and durability are important.

Linerboard

Testliner

A widely used liner grade, commonly incorporating recovered fibre, for corrugated packaging applications where the required balance of performance and cost is important.

Fluting medium

Fluting paper

The paper formed into the corrugated wave between the liners. Its structure contributes to the board's rigidity, cushioning and resistance.

Process material

Starch adhesive

Starch-based adhesive is used to bond the fluting to the liner during corrugated board production.

Kachua's published raw-material supply includes kraftliner, virgin liner and medium paper sourced from international and local markets. Paper selection can therefore be matched to the construction and specification of the finished carton.

Flute technology

The structure inside the box.

The flute profile changes the character of corrugated board. Kachua's published production equipment includes A-, B- and E-flute corrugation capability.

A

A-Flute

A larger flute profile that provides a thicker board structure with strong cushioning and compression characteristics.

Approx. 4.8 mm flute height
B

B-Flute

A more compact flute profile offering a useful balance of strength, rigidity, print surface and space efficiency.

Approx. 2.4 mm flute height
E

E-Flute

A fine flute profile that produces a relatively smooth, compact board surface suitable for applications requiring finer construction and presentation.

Approx. 1.2 mm flute height
Published Kachua equipment: heavy-duty A-Flute 52", B-Flute 62", B-Flute 52" and E-Flute 42" corrugation lines.

Production technology

Built around volume. Flexible enough for detail.

Kachua's production floor combines high-throughput corrugation equipment with dedicated converting and finishing machinery, allowing production to move from large-volume master cartons to more specialized packaging requirements.

01 / HIGH-THROUGHPUT

Automated production

Machine-based production systems handle the core board-making and high-volume conversion stages with repeatable settings and controlled production flow.

  • Corrugation
  • Automatic sheet cutting
  • High-volume die cutting
02 / FLEXIBLE

Semi-automated converting

Dedicated converting equipment provides flexibility for different carton formats, sizes, constructions and order requirements.

  • Sheet pasting
  • Slotting
  • Rotary cutting & creasing
03 / SPECIALIST

Operator-assisted finishing

Specialist finishing operations combine machinery with skilled operator control where product configuration, inspection and final finishing require flexibility.

  • High-speed stitching
  • Sheet pressing
  • Final inspection & handling

Inside the factory

From paper to finished carton.

An integrated corrugated operation brings together board production and converting under one manufacturing system. At Kachua, the process moves through dedicated stages from paper preparation to finished packaging.

01 / MATERIAL

Paper preparation

Liner and fluting papers are prepared according to the required board construction and production specification.

02 / CORRUGATION

Board formation

Fluting medium is formed into its corrugated profile and bonded with liners to create rigid corrugated board.

03 / CONVERSION

Cutting & creasing

Sheets are cut, creased, slotted or die-cut according to the geometry of the required carton.

04 / FORMING

Pasting & stitching

Carton components are joined through adhesive bonding or stitching according to the construction.

05 / DELIVERY

Inspection & dispatch

Finished cartons are checked, bundled and prepared for delivery to customers.

Converting capabilities

From board to box.

Corrugated board becomes a finished carton through a sequence of cutting, creasing, slotting, joining and finishing operations. Kachua maintains dedicated equipment across these stages.

01 / CUT

Sheet cutting

Heavy-duty sheet cutting equipment prepares corrugated board to the required production dimensions.

02 / DIE-CUT

Die cutting

Precision cutting and creasing for cartons with defined shapes, profiles and special configurations.

03 / ROTARY

Rotary cutting & creasing

Continuous rotary processing for cutting and creasing corrugated sheets.

04 / SLOT

Electric slotting

Slotting creates the required carton folds and flap geometry for box formation.

05 / PASTE

Sheet pasting

Adjustable pasting equipment joins carton components using adhesive according to the required construction.

06 / STITCH

High-speed stitching

Mechanical stitching provides a strong joining method for suitable heavy-duty carton constructions.

07 / PRESS

Sheet pressing

Pressing equipment supports consistent finishing and handling of converted carton components.

08 / FINISH

Final finishing

Converted cartons are checked, bundled and prepared for customer delivery and export handling.

Published equipment base: 5 sheet cutters, 6 die-cutting machines, 3 rotary cutting & creasing machines, 4 high-speed stitching machines, 5 adjustable sheet-pasting machines, 3 sheet presses and 2 electric slotting machines.
